WACO, Texas – Senior defensive back Justin Bell (Columbus, Ohio) picked up his second All-American honors in a week, being named to the 2013 AFCA Division II Coaches' All-America Team, announced today by the American Football Coaches Association.
Bell, who last week earned BSN All-American accolades, capped his career with a school-record 294 career tackles and a school-record seven fumbles forced. He tied a school-record with nine career interceptions and is tied for second with six fumble recoveries. Bell's career 14.2 punt return average is also a school-record.
In 2013 alone, Bell made an ODU single-season record 101 stops, had two interceptions, forced two fumbles and recovered one. He also returned 24 punts for an average of 14.4 yards per return and tied a GLIAC-record with a 91-yard return for a touchdown against Grand Valley, earning GLIAC Player of the Week honors.
Bell was named the GLIAC Defensive Back of the Year and is a two-time First Team All-GLIAC selection. He was also selected to the Daktronics Super Region Four First Team and is a candidate for Daktronics All-American honors as well.
