COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior Dominic Clegg (Powell, Ohio) and junior Jarrod Howard (Dublin, Ohio) were voted to the Capital One Academic All‐District Football Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Clegg carries a 3.71 GPA in math and math education at Ohio Dominican. On the season, he has made 23 tackles with an interception and a pair of pass break ups.
Clegg was also named a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation's Campbell Trophy, which goes to the top scholar-athletes in college football. Clegg was one of just 24 Division II student-athletes to be a semifinalist for the award. He will earn his GLAIC Academic Excellence award this fall, is a member of ODU's President's Society and active in various community outreach programs.
In his career, Clegg has played in 37 games and registered 95 tackles for the Panthers.
Howard is in his first season as a starter on the ODU offensive line and carries a 3.80 GPA in integrated social studies education. The Panthers' left tackle, Howard has helped key ODU's offense to rank among the GLIAC's best in rushing (235.1 yards per game), total offense (469.2 yards per game) and scoring (36.0 points per game).
Both Clegg and Howard are now eligible to be voted on the Academic All-American teams, which come out later this month.
Ohio Dominican is undefeated at 8-0 (7-0 GLIAC) and ranked No. 9 in the AFCA poll and No. 8 in the D2Football.com poll. The Panthers also sit second in the NCAA's Super Region Four rankings.
ODU takes on Lake Erie at noon on Saturday at Panther Field.
