BAY CITY, Mich. – After his punt block against Hillsdale resulted in a safety and helped turn the momentum in Ohio Dominican's favor, sophomore defensive lineman Di'Andre Harrison (Columbus, Ohio) was named the GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.
With the game tied 14-14 late in the third quarter, Harrison blocked a Hillsdale punt through the back of the end zone to give the Panthers a 16-14 lead. ODU would score a touchdown following the free kick, and two plays later Harrison fell on a fumble in the end zone for another Panther touchdown, giving ODU a 30-14 lead.
The Panthers would go on to notch a 37-20 win in the contest and continued to receive votes in the latest AFCA Top 25 Poll, released today.
Harrison would finish the game with four tackles (1 TFL). It was the first punt block for a Panther since Tyler Purcell blocked one at Northwood in 2011, and the first safety for ODU since Eli Kovach's sack in the end zone against Virginia-Lynchburg in 2012.
Ohio Dominican (2-0, 1-0 GLIAC) hits the road for a 3 p.m. contest Saturday at Northern Michigan (1-0, 1-0 GLIAC).
