COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's football team will open the 2013 season with a Thursday night road contest at one of the top NAIA teams, Georgetown (Ky.) College, before embarking on a nine-game GLIAC slate.
Ohio Dominican and Georgetown will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5 in the road opener. It will be the first matchup between the two teams and the first weekday game the Panthers have played in program history as well. Georgetown has finished each of the last two regular seasons undefeated and was ranked No. 1 in the final NAIA regular season poll last year.
The Panthers then open at home on Saturday, Sept. 14 at noon against Hillsdale, before making a Sept. 21 trip to Northern Michigan for a 4 p.m. kickoff. The September slate closes on Sept. 28 with a noon kickoff against Grand Valley State as the Lakers make their first trip to Panther Field.
ODU is on the road for the first two weeks in October, taking on Walsh (Oct. 5) and Ashland (Oct. 12) before returning home for an Oct. 19 Homecoming clash with Findlay. The Oct. 26 date is open due to departure of Notre Dame from the conference.
In November, the Panthers travel to Tiffin on Nov. 2, play host to Lake Erie at noon on Nov. 9, then close out the regular season at Malone on Nov. 16.
Ohio Dominican closed the 2012 season with an 8-3 record overall, including a 7-3 mark in GLIAC play which was good for a second-place in the conference standings. The Panthers are 15-7 overall in the past two seasons, their first two as active NCAA Division II members.
