Schoen Earns NCAA Player of Week Nod

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Running back Brandon Schoen (Olentangy, Ohio) picked up another accolade as the Ohio Dominican freshman was named the Division II Offensive Player of the Week.

Schoen, who was earlier named the Division II Offensive Player of the Week, rumbled for a school-record 298 yards on 27 carries in ODU's 46-41 setback to No. 4 Grand Valley. Schoen averaged 11.0 yards per carry in breaking the record, and his total is the most of any Division II player this season.

Making his performance more remarkable is that it was the first game the true freshman has appeared in this season. On his third carry of the game, he broke free for 33 yards, and on his fourth carry he ran untouched 75 yards for a touchdown, tying the school-record for longest rush in a game.

Schoen also had runs of 52, 27, 21, 19, 14 and 14 in the game. He helped the Panthers finish with 395 yards rushing, the second-most in school history and the most that Grand Valley has ever allowed in a game. He was just 20 yards shy of the GLIAC freshman rushing record and had the most yards of any GLIAC player in a regular season game since 2009.

Ohio Dominican returns to Panther Field at 7 p.m. Saturday for its Homecoming matchup with former MSFA rival and GLIAC newcomer Walsh.
