ODU Football Inks 39 in 2012 Signing Class; 5 Transfers Also Join Program

Signing Day Video

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Carrying over the momentum from the 2011 football season, Ohio Dominican football coach Bill Conley announced the signing of 39 student-athletes to the 2012 recruiting class on Wednesday.

“We are extremely excited about this year’s recruiting class,” Conley said. “It seems the success our student-athletes have had in the classroom and on the field has been a springboard to bringing in such a talented group of young men. The class is nearly 40 strong, with the vast number coming from our home state. The Panther football program just got stronger today due to the talent level and quality of the 2012 recruiting class.”

In addition to the 39 student-athletes who signed today are five transfers who joined the program in January: quarterback Kevin Hatrick, wide receiver Nick McKnight, linebacker Marcus Raney and defensive linemen Harrison Scott and Keith Wells.

For a full breakdown of the recruiting class, visit ODU's Ustream page to hear comments from Conley.

The Panthers closed 2011 with a 7-4 record overall, including a 6-4 mark in the GLIAC and a tie for fifth in the overall conference standings. ODU won five of its final six games, including a 43-42 defeat of GLIAC champion Hillsdale and wins over regionally ranked Ashland (20-17) and Indianapolis (38-26). Ten Panthers earned All-GLIAC honors and Mike Noffsinger was a semifinalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy for the best player in Division II.

Off the field, Ohio Dominican led the nation with three Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-American First Team selections and led the conference with 39 Academic All-GLIAC picks, and Noffsinger was the first ODU athlete to earn a GLIAC Commissioner’s Award.
