Noffsinger Garners All-Region Nod

BROOKFIELD, Ill. — Senior running back Mike Noffsinger (West Branch, Mich.) earned one more honor on Wednesday, as the all-conference performer was named to the 2011 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-Super Region Three team today.

Noffsinger, a third team selection, helped the Panthers to a 7-4 record in 2011, including a 6-4 mark in the GLIAC. He toted the ball a school-record 246 times for 1,242 yards and 12 TDs, averaging 112.9 yards per game on the ground. He was also the team's third-leading receiver with 20 catches for 179 yards and a touchdown and threw a touchdown pass as well. He finished with nine 100-yard games this season and set a school-record with 2,714 rushing yards.

Other accolades the senior picked up following the season included Second Team All-GLIAC recognition; being named a Harlon Hill Trophy semifinalist as one of the top Division II players in the country; selection to the Capital One Academic All-American First Team; being named a GLIAC Commissioner's Award recipient; and selection as the OhioCollegeFootball.com FCS/Division II Co-Offensive Player of the Year.

The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988. Don Hansen's Football Gazette began selecting Division II All-Region squads in 2003.
