COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's baseball team begins G-MAC play with a four-game series against Tiffin on Saturday and Sunday in Panther Valley.
The teams will play doubleheaders beginning at 1 p.m. each day.
ODU comes into the weekend with a 6-7 record after going 2-3 on its spring break trip to North Carolina. The Panthers had more extra base hits than their opponents (12-7), but couldn't come up with the clutch hits as ODU would leave 40 runners on during the week.
ODU's pitchers registered a 3.60 ERA, striking out 40 in 45.0 innings of work. Senior Mitchell Bault (Maineville, Ohio) and junior Danny Matic (Highland Heights, Ohio) each threw 7.0 innings while allowing just one unearned run and freshman Joel Roediger (Wapakoneta, Ohio) tossed 6.0 scoreless frames. Sophomore Tim Zeller (Mount Vernon, Ohio) yielded just three hits and struck out nine in 5.1 scoreless frames as well.
The Panthers enter this weekend fifth in the league in ERA and sixth in batting average.
Senior Genesis Hillard (Cincinnati, Ohio) leads the league in runs scored and is tied for first in doubles and triples. Senior Noah Bland (Oberlin, Ohio) is tops in the G-MAC in stolen bases and freshman Manny Vorhees (Wapakoneta, Ohio) is tied for the league lead in total bases.
On the mound, Bault's 26 strikeouts are the second-most in the conference.
Tiffin enters this week with a 2-13 record. In ODU's Division II era, the Panthers are 16-12 against Tiffin. The teams split a doubleheader last year on Feb. 26, with Tiffin winning the opener 5-2 and ODU taking the nightcap 4-3.
