WILSON, N.C. – Ohio Dominican's baseball team hung with No. 18 Mercyhurst through five and a half innings, but a five-run sixth inning propelled the Lakers to a 10-1 victory on Friday.

ODU (4-5) had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as senior Genesis Hillard (Cincinnati, Ohio) had walked to start the game and later scored on a passed ball.

The Lakers (5-1) countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning, but the score remained that way until the fifth, when Mercyhurst scored twice more to take a 4-1 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth, though, Mercyhurst plated five runs to pull away.

Hillard drew two walks and senior Colin Kaucher (Toledo, Ohio), sophomore Tim Zeller (Mount Vernon, Ohio) and freshman Manny Vorhees (Wapakoneta, Ohio) each had hits.

Ohio Dominican takes on Cal (Pa.) at 7 p.m. Saturday in Wilson.
