Errors Hurt #23 Baseball In Setback To Northwood

DAYTON, Ohio – Two errors led to six unearned runs as Ohio Dominican's baseball team fell 11-5 to Northwood on Friday in a game played at Wright State.

ODU led 2-1 going to the sixth inning, but Northwood scored five runs – four of them unearned – in the inning, then tacked on five more runs in the seventh, two of which were unearned.

The Panthers finished with 11 hits and drew six walks, but stranded 13 runners in the contest as well.

Seniors Brad Hull (Gahanna, Ohio), Colin Kaucher (Toledo, Ohio) and Chris Sackett (Loveland, Ohio) each had two hits and junior Joey Machuga (Canfield, Ohio) drew two walks to lead ODU's offense.

Senior Mitchell Bault (Maineville, Ohio) was tagged with the loss, allowing two earned runs in 6.0 innings while striking out six. He did not walk a batter for the second time in his three starts.

Sackett drew a bases loaded walk in the first inning to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead, then had an RBI single in the third inning to extend the lead before Northwood scored 11 unanswered runs.

The two teams are scheduled to conclude their series with a doubleheader at noon Saturday at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe.
