Baseball Secures First NCAA Tournament Bid, Opens Play Thursday Against Quincy

MIDWEST REGION BRACKET

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's baseball team has qualified for its first NCAA Midwest Regional Tournament as the Panthers earned an at-large bid and the No. 4 seed in the region.

ODU will take on No. 5 seed Quincy at host site Illinois-Springfield at 11 a.m. (ET) on Thursday.

The Panthers entered last week's conference tournament ranked No. 16 in the NCBWA rankings and as the No. 1 seed in the G-MAC North Division. However, ODU suffered a pair of narrow defeats in the G-MAC Tournament to fall to 32-15, forcing them to wait until tonight to see if they earned an at-large bid.

ODU enters the tournament batting .337 as a team and averaging 8.7 runs scored per contest. The Panthers' pitching staff, meanwhile, has a collective 4.32 ERA and is limiting opponents to a .262 batting average. ODU has also turned 52 double plays this spring and sports a .967 fielding percentage.

The Panthers are making their first postseason trip since qualifying for the 2010 NAIA National Tournament.
