COLUMBUS, Ohio – A pair of Ohio Dominican baseball players in senior Justin Childers (Pickerington, Ohio) and junior Colin Kaucher (Toledo, Ohio) were named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District as selected by CoSIDA.
Last year, Childers was named to the organization's all-district and all-American team, while this is the first academic honor for Kaucher. Both now advance on to the ballot to be voted to the Academic All-American teams.
Childers carries a 3.46 GPA and is a Finance/Economics major. The G-MAC Player of the Year, Childers is currently hitting .433 with 11 homers, 43 RBIs, 19 doubles and five triples, to go along with a .563 OBP and .828 slugging percentage. He entered the week leading the nation in on-base percentage and runs scored per game.
Last year, Childers was named the GLIAC Player of the Year, was the consensus Midwest Region Player of the Year, and a Second Team All-American. In his career, he's batting .380 with 33 homers, 165 RBIs and 51 doubles, along with a .471 on-base percentage and a .644 slugging percentage.
Kaucher, a Business Administration major with a 3.69 GPA, was named a First Team All-Great Midwest selection earlier and leads the conference in RBIs with 58, while batting .429 with a .511 OBP and .682 slugging percentage. He's hit seven homers to go with 10 doubles and four triples. He entered the week fourth in the country in RBIs per game, eighth in batting and 11th in OBP.
Kaucher is a career .364 hitter with 11 homers and 125 RBIs, while sporting a .440 OBP and .519 slugging percentage.
