INDIANAPOLIS – For the second time this spring, Ohio Dominican junior catcher Colin Kaucher (Toledo, Ohio) was named the G-MAC North Division Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Kaucher continued to stay hot at the plate for the No. 15 Panthers, as he went 7-for-13 (.538) with two homers, a double, five RBIs and two walks. He slugged 1.077 with a .583 on-base percentage and also scored three runs as ODU split a four-game series with Hillsdale and remained in first place in the G-MAC.
He had two hits in three of the four games against Hillsdale, going 2-for-3 with an opposite-field homer and two RBIs and a walk in the series opener, then hit a two-run homer in game two.
Kaucher followed that up by registering two hits in both ends of Sunday's doubleheader sweep.
He extended his hitting streak to 19 straight games and has reached base in 32 consecutive games. Kaucher leads G-MAC with 56 RBIs and ranks second in batting average (.430), OBP (.521) and triples (four).
Kaucher also was recognized on March 5 after helping ODU take two of three games from Wayne State.
Ohio Dominican (27-10, 14-5 G-MAC) will take on Ashland at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Panther Valley.
