Filosa Sparkles, Baseball Suffers First Setback Of Season 1-0

MASON, Ohio – Junior Joe Filosa (Fort Wayne, Ind.) threw a gem, but Ohio Dominican's baseball team didn't manage a hit as the Panthers fell 1-0 to Mercyhurst on Sunday afternoon in Prasco Park.

Filosa allowed five hits in seven shutout innings, striking out five while walking just one batter. Freshman Tim Zeller (Mount Vernon, Ohio) worked a scoreless eighth inning, but the Lakers hit a solo homer in the ninth to take the win.

The Panthers (4-1) only managed to get one runner into scoring position, coming with one out in the third inning, but could do nothing more offensively.

Ohio Dominican takes on Tiffin in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Monday in Prasco Park.
