INDIANAPOLIS – Ohio Dominican's baseball team picked up both G-MAC North Division Player of the Week honors, with seniors Matt Kittelberger (Massillon, Ohio) and Justin Childers (Pickerington, Ohio) earning the recognition today.
Kittelberger started the season opener against Pikeville and tossed 5.0 scoreless innings, striking out five while allowing just three hits. He's now 6-1 over the last two seasons and has a career 11-4 record. He was named the GLIAC South Division Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 29, 2016 after tossing 7.0 shutout innings against Wheeling Jesuit.
Childers, meanwhile, has extended his hitting streak to 16 games dating back to last season. In the doubleheader against Pikeville, he finished 2-for-6 with a home run, four RBIs, five runs scored, three walks and three stolen bases. This is the third career player of the week honor for Childers, who has now clubbed 23 home runs in his career.
ODU will play a three-game series against Grand Valley in Mason at Prasco Park, starting with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday.
