CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- Ohio Dominican's baseball team swept Pikeville to begin the season, winning the opener 18-0 and scoring the go-ahead run in the eighth inning in game two to take a 5-4 victory.
In the opener, ODU scored four runs in the second inning and put up consecutive six-run innings in the third and fourth to break the game wide open. Joey Machuga drove in four runs, Justin Childers drew three walks and slugged a three-run homer, and Colin Kaucher had a pair of hits.
Matt Kittelberger went the distance, allowing just three hits and punching out seven in the win.
Game two was knotted at 4-4 headed to the bottom of the eighth when Bernee Sanchez scored on Banke's RBI single.
Brad Wilson then set down the side in the ninth inning to pick up the save.
Hull and Kaucher each had two hits to lead the offense, with Kaucher also driving in two.
