No. 3 - Justin Childers Collects Hardware
After authoring one of the best single seasons in ODU baseball history, Justin Childers picked up numerous accolades in recognition for his efforts.
Childers led all of Division II in batting average (.451) and slugging percentage (.846) while also ranking fifth in the country with a .526 on-base percentage. He finished with 14 homers, 17 doubles, five triples, 60 RBIs, 62 runs scored and 18 stolen bases in 48 games played.
Childers was the consensus Midwest Region Player of the Year and a consensus Second Team All-American and also was named the GLIAC Player of the Year. A two-time GLIAC Player of the Week, Childers also was a finalist for the Tino Martinez Award as the best player in Division II. Childers also picked up CoSIDA Academic All-District and Academic All-American recognition, and the GLIAC recognized him as a Commissioner's Award recipient.
For the season, Childers had 28 multi-hit games and 19 multi-RBI performances. He closed the season with a 14-game hitting streak and had two or more hits in 14 of those contests.
