Baseball Drops Pair At Lake Erie

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's baseball team suffered a pair of setbacks at Lake Erie on Saturday, falling by scores of 11-4 and 10-7 in GLIAC action. 

ODU fell behind 6-0 in the opener and couldn't recover. Freshman Colin Kaucher (Toledo, Ohio) tallied a pair of hits and sophomore Cody Paterniti (Chardon, Ohio) hit a two-run triple to lead the Panthers offense.

In game two, senior Colman Fitzgerald (Centerville, Ohio) hit a pair of home runs and sophomore Justin Childers (Pickerington, Ohio) also homered, but the Panthers fell despite outhitting Lake Erie 12-10.

Fitzgerald went 4-for-4 at the dish with three runs scored and three RBI, and Paterniti and junior Kyle Burson (Brunswick, Ohio) also had two hits for ODU.

Derek Thobe threw 4.0 innings and allowed one run in the second game.

Ohio Dominican and Lake Erie conclude their series with a doubleheader starting at noon on Sunday.
