Elia Diaz enters her 13th year as the administrative assistant for the Ohio Dominican athletic department. Diaz has been instrumental to the success of the ODU athletic department assisting the athletic director, assistant athletic director and coaches in the daily operations of the department.

Diaz graduated with a bachelor degree in Business with a concentration in Tourism from the University of Sacred Heart in Santurce, Puerto Rico. A native of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Diaz began working as a travel agent in 1987 for Popular Travel in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.  

In 1992 her husband Porfirio enlisted in the US Navy and he was stationed for almost three years at the Brunswick Naval Base in Maine. She then moved with her family from Puerto Rico to Maine and began working for Dube Carlson Wagonlit Travel in Lewiston, Maine. From there, her family moved to Newport News, Virginia where her husband was stationed at Norfolk Naval Station onboard the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge. Diaz also worked as travel agent at Royal Travel in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Following her husband's tour of duty in the Navy, the Diaz family moved to Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Diaz now lives in Pickerington, Ohio with her husband. Her son Xavier is a Capital University graduate.
