JR Bonham is entering his ninth year at ODU as the Assistant Athletic Trainer. In that role, he assists Head Athletic Trainer Jamie French in all duties of the Athletic Training department.  

Prior to coming to ODU, Bonham worked as an athletic trainer for Columbus Public Schools at the high school level. From 2003-2004, he was the Head Athletic Trainer for Walnut Ridge and Independence High Schools, where he coordinated athletic training for 27 interscholastic athletic teams.  

Bonham received a bachelor's degree in Athletic Training in 2003 from Otterbein College. While at Otterbein, he worked as a student athletic trainer for the Cardinals under head athletic trainer Charles Goodwin. He has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association since 2002.

Bonham finished his masters of science in exercise science and health promotion with an emphasis in sports psychology from California University of Pennsylvania in 2009.

A native of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Bonham is a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. He currently resides in Columbus.
