COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio Dominican University Athletic Director Jeff Blair announced the hiring of Tyler Jester as the Director of Athletic Communications on Thursday, June 20, 2019.

"We are excited to welcome back Tyler to the athletic department staff here at Ohio Dominican," Blair said. "His experience and familiarity with ODU along with his energy and passion make him a tremendous fit to take on the role of director of athletic communications."

Jester returns to Ohio Dominican after spending the last three and a half years as the sports information director at NCAA Division III Hanover College in southeast Indiana. He directed the coverage of the 22 varsity athletic programs for the Panthers and coordinated the department's efforts on the school's social media platforms. He was also a member of the College's Office of Marketing and Communications team since his arrival, as well as the Marketing & Enrollment Committee during the 2018-19 academic year.

"I would first like to thank Jeff Blair for giving me the opportunity to return to a place I consider home in Ohio Dominican," stated Jester. "ODU is where my sports information career began and I am excited about the opportunity to return and showcase all the outstanding work our student-athletes do on and off the playing field."

A member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Jester advanced the Hanover social media platforms to where they were ranked in the top-25 nationally according to d3socialmedia.com's rating index system. In his first year at Hanover, Jester received national recognition from CoSIDA for his coverage of the Hanover men's basketball program, as he was awarded with the best winter game notes in the College Division which includes NCAA Division II and III institutions as well as NAIA and junior colleges.

Jester also launched a new, state-of-the-art athletic website and created the Hanover Sports Network during his three-plus years with the Panthers.

"Hanover will always hold a special place in my heart," Jester added. "Thank you to Hanover College Vice President and Director of Athletics, Lynn Hall, for giving me the opportunity to lead and grow as a sports information director. My family and I will have nothing but fond memories of Hanover and Madison, Ind. and all of the people we have developed relationships with."

Before taking over at Hanover in February of 2016, Jester spent two and a half years in the sports information office at Ohio Dominican as an intern and a graduate assistant covering nine sports.

"My wife Madison and I are excited to return home to the Central Ohio area and afford our son Tate the opportunity to grow up near his grandparents, other relatives and friends."

The West Jefferson, Ohio native earned his Bachelor of Science in Education at Bowling Green State University (Ohio) in May of 2014 where he studied sport management and general business. He is also in the process of finishing his Masters of Science in Sport Management here at Ohio Dominican.
