Smiddy Leads Women's Golf To Victory At Capital Spring Invitational

Ohio Dominican senior women's golfer Erin Smiddy captured medalist honors en route to ODU's women's golf team taking top honors at the Capital Purple and White Spring Invitational on Sunday, April 9 at Cumberland Trail Golf Club in Pataskala, Ohio.

Smiddy recorded her career-low tournament score of 147 (74-73) while shooting a career-low round of 73 on day two of the tournament to earn medalist honors for the second time during the 2017 spring season, also finishing as tournament medalist at the TaylorMade-adidas Intercollegiate (3/13-14/2017).

Finishing the 2016-17 season with five top 20 finishes that included two first place finishes, Smiddy led the Panthers in average round score (80.2), winning percentage (.684), relative to par mark (+9), season-low tournament score (147) and low round score (73) for the year.

The Panthers also saw three other golfers record top 10 finishes at the Capital Spring Invitational, including Emma Romine (third place), Kaylin Dill (ninth) and Abby Swensen (tied for 10th). 

Overall, Ohio Dominican finished the tournament with a two-round score of 641 (324-317), seven strokes lower than its closest competition.
